Bleu Rosemary Chicken Alfredo

This was served with oven toasted garlic bread which had a bleu cheese rosemary "butter" on top. We are putting this recipe in moratorium for special occasions only. It is 14 different kinds of awesome and we don't want to ruin it for ourselves. ;o)

Mouthgasm.

Ohmyfuckinggod. Brunch today was so amazing I wanted to rub it all over myself. There are moments when you cook something and you are pleased and you enjoy the food...
Then then are moments of pure unadulterated mouth-watering hedonistic culinary success. This was the latter. We had grilled chicken served on warm French baguettes dressed with a Rosemary Bleu Cheese sauce. Words and pictures just do not do it justice. It was divine. It induced mouthgasms. Boston Market wishes they made sandwiches this good (and I do enjoy Boston Market). Or, as Joe put it, "Boston Market can suck my left nut."
I will make these sandwiches again and soon. Mmm, sweet carby death.

Beef with Peanut Sauce

This was a beef satay inspired dish. No bamboo skewers. The sauce was a spicy peanut sauce (made with peanut butter, not actual peanuts..). The meat and sauce were awesome. However, the true standout was the accompaniment. I made a coconut basmati rice and it was DELICIOUS. The spicy and the sweet complimented each other perfectly. My only complaint is that there was not enough fire. It is hard to find any spices in the local grocery stores that actually pack any sort of punch. We like it SPICY. I think we need to go to a specialty grocer and stock up.

Shame on me

The internet has been down so I have not been posting. I have made some pretty frakkin' spectacular things in the past week or so too. What a pity!

Among the highlights..

-Oven "fried" chicken, or, as Joe named it "Go Suck A Lemon Chicken"

-"Black and White" chocolate peanut butter cookies

-Cream pie milkshakes

The Return of the Big Kat

Since spotting a Kit Kat Caramel in the store recently (which I found to taste shiteous, by the way..) I have been in search of the Big Kat. I typically am not too fond of American candy or anything that is milk chocolate. However, Kit Kat seems to be a comfort food for me. Alas, I was agog at spotting this in a local grocery store today! Notice they are not calling it the Big Kat, yet that is precisely what it is. I remember being not so impressed with these the first time around but I thought perhaps my memory was deceiving me. After taking one bite, I recalled why I was not so impressed. The chocolate to wafer ratio! *sigh* Joe, being a lover of milk chocolate, was highly enamoured of it because the outer layer of chocolate (mockolate) is much thicker. Too much milk chocolate for me. It wasn't nasty like the Kit Kat Caramel (*vomit*) but not as tasty as the regular sized Kit Kat. Joe says, however, that it tastes exactly the same as he remembers it and completely resents my hatred of the Kit Kat Caramel.
Whatever. ;o)

Steak Roulade

Dinner this evening was Steak Roulade stuffed with various spices and feta cheese served with a side of Parmesan broccoli.
Why is it so damned difficult for me to find butcher's twine?!! Even the BUTCHER looked at us like we had three heads when we asked where we could find some. At least the toothpicks came through in a pinch. It was also a pain for me to figure out when the meat was actually done because I have not yet purchased a meat thermometer and I do not have X-ray vision (thanks, Joe). It is always nice to eat a meal that doesn't require me to commit carbicide. I do think I could eat the steak/ broccoli/feta cheese combo every single day. Feta cheese is like manna from heaven (if I believed in such a place).
OMFG, I am so full.

Butterscotch Lattice Cookies?

My oatmeal cookies typically turn out thick and chewy. This was not what I was expecting but sometimes the "mistakes" end up being more suited to the meal that you were planning anyway. I changed out the chocolate morsels to butterscotch for Joe. The dough flattened in the baking process and ended up becoming a sort of an Oatmeal Butterscotch Lattice Cookie. I think I will try and devise another butterscotch related dessert. I prefer my chocolate chips. Still yummy though...
